FROM THE FOUNDER - NEWTON SIAO
Through the way of tea, I cherish the underlying principles of
Chado: Harmony, Respect, Purity and Tranquility.
harmony (和 わ )
Through drinking high quality Japanese tea, I discovered and experienced its overwhelming health benefits. My energy levels increased and I became more focused. I found better balance in my life and integrated harmony in my relationships.
When one is in tune in mind, body and spirit, harmony is achieved.
respect (敬 けい )
As a respect to the rich traditions and long history of tea, I dedicated a number of years to get to know the humble leaf, Camellia Sinensis and cultivated a mindfulness for its tradition and history.
I relocated to Japan and travelled around the tea regions to learn from farmers and the tea community. I also obtained my certification on Japanese tea.
purity (清 せい )
At the Urasenke tea ceremonies, I was exposed to the aesthetics and discipline in the preparation, serving and sharing of
koicha and usucha.
Inside the tea room, one is drawn to the spirit of omotenashi as tea utensils
are purified with
utmost care.
tranquility (寂 じゃく)
harvest by Matcha Republica is the culmination of my life journey and represents a commitment to and an appreciation of both the traditional and modern, a respect for Earth and the spirit of humanity.
